In celebration of the Lange 1’s 25th anniversary, A. Lange & Söhne has been launching monthly tribute pieces of the icon. Starting with the Lange 1 “25th Anniversary” at SIHH, and the Lange 1 Moon Phase “25th Anniversary” just the month after, March’s release sees the brand take on the Little Lange 1.
The Little Lange 1 was first introduced four years after the Lange 1 in 1998 and was built as a choice for those with slimmer wrists. At just 36.8mm, the watch is 1.7mm thinner than its counterpart. Through the years, Lange has more or less dedicated the series to women, offering the timepiece in brighter colours and dial options catering to the fairer sex. At last year’s SIHH, the brand released three versions with guilloche dials in grey, brown, and purple.
The Little Lange 1 “25 Anniversary” however, will be of a more staid affair, following the same argenté silver dial and printed blue numeral combination that the previous two anniversary pieces shared. Without the guilloche or mother-of-pearl dials, the new Little Lange 1 is closer in terms of aesthetics to the original Little Lange 1, given that the first was created to truly be a smaller version of the Lange 1.
The hand-engraved balance cock has been engraved with the “25” that is in-line with the A. Lange & Söhne typography found in the dates. The accents found on the balance cock have also been filled with dark blue lacquer.
The Little Lange 1 “25th Anniversary” is fitted with the manually wound calibre L121.1 that was launched last year. The movement features an instantaneous jumping date display and promises a power reserve of 72 hours, courtesy of the twin mainspring barrel.
With ten editions being released this year (from January to October, the actual anniversary to date), fans of A. Lange & Söhne have another seven Lange 1 variations left, each released on the 25th of the month.
